- Atlantis (Legendary Island Civilization)

Atlantis is a legendary island civilazation said to have existed in the Atlantic Ocean and various other places, and was destroyed by a great cataclysm several thousand years ago. 

The most comprehensive source of information and references about Atlantis is the huge on-line encyclopedia called Atlantipedia, which was founded by and is edited by Tony O'Connell in England. 

 

Organizations:

Amis D'Atlantis: founded by Paul LeCour, who split with the original French Societe d'etudes Atlanteens, founded in 1926 by Roger DeVigne; So Amis was founded some time after 1926. Amis published a bimonthly periodical called "Atlantis".

Atlantean Research Society: New Jersey; Ref: Decamp, Lost Continents, p.77

Atlantis Research Centre (UK) (Ref: L. Sprague de Camp, Lost Continents, p.77); publishes a periodical;

Danish Atlantis Research Society: Founded in the 1930s; Issued Atlantis stamps, money. (Ref: L Sprague DeCamp, Lost Continents, p.77)

Societe d'etudes Atlanteens: founded in 1926, with Roger DeVigne as president and Paul LeCour as secretary. LeCour split with DeVigne and set up his own organization, Amis d'Atlantis. (Ref: DeCamp, Lost Continents, p.77)
