Accreditation of Educational Insitutions

1. The US Department of Education's "Database of Accredited Postsecondary Institutions and Programs" is available here. This lists all of the universities, colleges, and other post-secondary educational institutions (PSEI) in the United States that have been accredited by accrediting agencies that are approved by the US Department of Education.

2. The U.S. Department of Education does not itself accredit educational institutions and/or programs. However, the Secretary of Education is required by law to publish a list of nationally recognized accrediting agencies that the Secretary determines to be reliable authorities as to the quality of education or training provided by the institutions of higher education and the higher education programs they accredit. The database of accrediting agencies is available here.

3. Degree Mills, Diploma Mills: Information on diploma and degree mills , and educational institutions that may be diploma or degree mills may be found at the following sources: 1. Degree Mills by John Bear and Mariah Bear

1. What is required of a university, college, or other PSEIs in order for their students to be able to get student loans from banks, whose loans are then backed/guaranteed by the US gov;

2. What is the US gov agency that backs the student loans given out by banks and other lending institutions?

3. What are the accrediting agencies for those PSEIs that advertise all the time on Jerry Springer, Steve Wilcos, etc? I am sure they are running on student loans for the most part.
