C. Akkeringa-Kromme (1868-1942) was a Dutch medium and Spiritualist propagandist.   She was another important medium who played a role in many gatherings of the Dutch Spiritualist Society “Harmonia”.  She was a so-called psychometric medium.  Her gift was well tested by Professor Dr. J. Valckenier Suringar from Wageningen, who began working with her in 1921.  He wrote extensively about his experiments in Het Toekomstig Leven published in 1923.  Also, members of the Dutch Society for Psychical Research (SPR) considered her to be a gifted subject and she was often tested by its members.

Mrs. C. Akkeringa-Kromme is sometimes referred to as the widow of Dr. E.A. Akkeringa.   Her husband was not at all involved in Spiritualism.  Interestingly though, he is mentioned in a letter written by Albert Einstein to Leonard Albert Rademaker dated 31 March 1930 (see Einstein Archives Online, call number 48-59).

The archives of the Dutch Spiritualist Society "Harmonia" (Archive (HUA)) include records relating to C. Akkeringa-Kromme.

Mrs. Akkeringa-Kromme, whose maiden name was Naatje Kromme, was born in Gouda, Netherlads, on October 2, 1868 and passed away in The Hague on March 22, 1942. She married the widower Dr. Everd Adam Akkeringa (Delfshaven, January 11, 1838 - The Hague, April 27, 1912) in The Hague on March 1, 1905. Dr. Akkeringa was a physician and a midwife, married first with Antje Marbus (c. 1835 - The Hague, July 13, 1894). They had no children.
